How to download the ResaleOS desktop app
ResaleOS runs in any modern browser, so you never have to install anything. But install the free desktop app on the machines you use for intake and POS and you unlock silent background printing — labels print the moment you create a product, receipts print the moment a sale closes. No print dialog. No extra tap. The app is free, takes a minute to set up, and runs on macOS and Windows.
What the desktop app unlocks
Silent label printing
Save a default label printer (Rollo, Zebra, DYMO, Brother…) and ResaleOS prints to it silently. Toggle Auto-print on intake and every new product spits out a barcoded tag the moment you save.
Silent receipt printing
Save a default receipt printer (Star, Epson, Bixolon…). Turn on Auto-print after sale and the receipt prints the instant a checkout completes — no OS dialog, no extra tap from your cashier.
Faster checkout & intake
Browsers force you to confirm a print dialog every time. The desktop app skips the dialog entirely, shaving real seconds off every sale and every product creation.
Two saved printers, side-by-side
Most stores keep a small thermal printer for labels and a wider receipt printer at the register. ResaleOS holds a saved default for each, per machine — so every workstation uses the right hardware automatically.
Resilient to internet hiccups
The app talks to your printer locally. A brief Wi-Fi blip doesn't stop a receipt from printing — the sale itself queues and syncs the moment you're back online.

On Linux or ChromeOS? You can still run the full ResaleOS web app in a browser — only background printing is desktop-only.
Run the installer & approve once
We're mid-way through Apple's and Microsoft's code-signing programs, so the first launch on each machine shows a one-time security prompt. Click through it once and you're done forever.
On macOS
- Open the downloaded
.dmgand drag ResaleOS into your Applications folder. - Launch ResaleOS. macOS may say it can't verify the app — close that message.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security. You'll see a note that ResaleOS was blocked.
- Click Open Anyway, confirm with your password or Touch ID.
- ResaleOS launches. You only do this once per Mac.
On Windows
- Run the downloaded
.exeinstaller. - If you see Windows protected your PC, click More info → Run anyway.
- Follow the installer, then open ResaleOS.
- If Windows asks to allow the app, click Yes. One time only.
Sign in with your normal ResaleOS account
The desktop app is the same ResaleOS you use in your browser — same login, same data, same workspace. If you've signed in on a browser before, your email autofills on launch. If you're new, you can register straight from the app window.
Save your default printers
Open Settings → Items → Label printing and pick your label printer. Then open Settings → Sales → Receipt printing and pick your receipt printer. Each setting is per-machine, so a back-room intake station and a front-of-house POS can have different defaults. Toggle Auto-printand you're fully hands-off.

Web browsers intentionally show a print dialog every time a webpage asks to print — there's no way for ResaleOS (or any web app) to bypass that. The desktop app is the only way to skip the dialog and auto-print labels and receipts in the background.

Is the desktop app free?
Yes — completely free with every ResaleOS plan, including the trial. Install it on as many machines as you need.
Does it work on Apple Silicon?
Yes. The macOS download includes a native build for Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) and falls back to Intel where needed.
What about auto-updates?
After install, the app checks for updates in the background on launch and silently updates itself. You'll always be on the latest release without re-downloading.
Which printers are supported?
Anything macOS or Windows has a driver for — Rollo, Zebra, DYMO, Brother, Star, Epson, Munbyn, and the long tail. See the full list in our supported devices reference.
Do scanners need the desktop app?
No — USB and Bluetooth keyboard-wedge barcode scanners work the same way in a browser as they do in the app. Only background printing needs the desktop install.
Linux or ChromeOS support?
We don't ship Linux or ChromeOS builds today. The full ResaleOS web app still works in any browser on those systems — you just don't get silent printing.
