Connect your Shopify store to ResaleOS

Connecting Shopify lets you import your Shopify products into ResaleOS, crosslist them to other marketplaces, and keep stock in sync when something sells. The connection uses a custom app you create in your own Shopify account, so you stay in control of what ResaleOS can see.

You only need three values: your store domain, a Client ID, and a Client secret. This guide walks through all three, in the same order as the video.

Step 1: Open the Shopify channel in ResaleOS

1. In ResaleOS, click Settings.
2. Click Sales & import channels.
3. Click the Shopify tile.

You’ll see three fields to fill in — Store Domain, Client ID and Secret — plus the list of scopes you’ll need in a moment.

Step 2: Copy your store domain

1. Open your Shopify admin.
2. Go to Settings → General and copy your store domain.
3. Paste it into Store Domain in ResaleOS.

Either form works — your .myshopify.com address or your custom domain.

Step 3: Create a custom app in Shopify

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Develop apps, then Build apps in the dev dashboard.
2. Create a new app and give it any name — ResaleOS is a good one.

This app is the bridge between the two systems: it is what lets ResaleOS and Shopify talk to each other. Nothing else on the app needs changing except its scopes.

Step 4: Paste in the scopes

Scopes are permissions. Rather than ticking them one by one, ResaleOS gives you the whole list ready to paste.

1. Back in ResaleOS, find Scopes to enable on your custom app and click Copy.
2. In the Shopify dev dashboard, open your app’s Versions tab and click Create version.
3. Paste the list into the Scopes field. Make sure it goes in the required Scopes box — not Optional scopes, and not any other field.
4. Click Release, then confirm with Release again.

Not sure what each permission is for? Click the info icon next to the scopes list in ResaleOS — it explains every scope, grouped by whether it’s required, needed to list on Shopify from ResaleOS, or simply recommended.

Two of the recommended ones are worth adding while you’re there. read_all_orders lets us import orders older than 60 days — without it Shopify only returns the last 60 days, so older sales history won’t come across. The metaobject scopes let us read the size, fabric and colour attributes you already filled in on Shopify instead of guessing them.

Step 5: Copy the Client ID and Secret

1. In the dev dashboard, open your app’s App settings.
2. Copy the Client ID and paste it into ResaleOS.
3. Copy the Client secret (it starts with shpss_) and paste that in too.

Step 6: Install the app on your store

1. Still in the dev dashboard, open the app you just created.
2. Click Install app, choose the store you want it on, and confirm Install.

Don’t skip this one. Releasing a version only defines what the app may ask for; installing it is what actually grants those permissions to your store.

Step 7: Connect

1. Back in ResaleOS, click Connect Shopify.
2. You’ll see Shopify store connected once it succeeds.

What happens after you connect

• Your Shopify products can be imported into ResaleOS, with their photos, prices and stock.
• You can crosslist those products to your other channels, and list new ResaleOS products onto Shopify.
• When an item sells on Shopify, ResaleOS records the sale and can delist it from your other marketplaces.

If ResaleOS says permissions are missing

ResaleOS checks the app’s permissions and tells you if something it needs is missing. To fix it: add the missing scopes in the dev dashboard, release a new version, then re-install the app so your store approves them. Releasing on its own isn’t enough — your store keeps the old permissions until you re-install, and nothing is lost by re-installing.

Once the store approves the new permissions, ResaleOS picks them up on its own. There’s no need to reconnect or re-enter your credentials.
