How to import stock photos from the web
Photography is the slowest part of listing. So ResaleOS can go and find photos for you: type what the item is, and it searches live marketplace listings for the same product, then hands you their photos to import in one tap. It is the fastest way to get a catalog item live — and there are three different routes to it depending on what you have in front of you.
Not a stock photo library — real listings
This is worth understanding up front, because it shapes what you get. ResaleOS does not pull from a stock imagery service. It searches the marketplaces for people currently selling the same product you are listing, and shows you the photos from those listings.
Whatever you type as the product title is the search. The more specific it is — brand, model, colour, size — the closer the matches come back.
A first pass returns results fast, then a deeper scan runs across the marketplaces in the background while you browse — so more photos keep appearing.
The photos are a by-product of the price research. Run Get pricing estimate and you get comparable prices and importable photos from one search.
Give the product a title
Open a new product (or edit an existing one) and fill in the title field. The search runs off this, so the Import stock photos link stays greyed out until there is something to search for.
Be specific. Nike Air Max 90 Infrared, size 10 will find the right shoe. Sneakers will find a thousand wrong ones. Brand plus model plus a distinguishing detail is the sweet spot.
Click Import stock photos
You will find it on the right-hand side of the Images row, in the Basic Information section of the product form.
The search starts immediately and the link changes to Loading stock photos to import… while it works. When results land, the link turns into a row of small thumbnails followed by Import product pictures? — click that to open the picker.
If you already ran Get pricing estimate for this product, the photos are there waiting — no second search needed.
Pick the photos you want
The picker opens full screen with one card per listing it found. Tapping a card selects every photo from that listing at once.
Quickest path — one tap grabs that seller's whole set.
Each card shows a photo count. Click it to open that listing's full gallery — the other angles, the detail shots, the tag close-up — and select only the ones you want. Up to 12 photos per listing.
The button counts your selection — Import (6) — and the photos are copied onto your own image hosting, not hot-linked. They will not break if the original listing sells or gets deleted. AI listing details then generate off them automatically, exactly as if you had uploaded the photos yourself.
Photos you have already imported are filtered out of the picker automatically, so you will not end up with duplicates if you come back for a second round.
Other ways to pull photos from the web
The importer is not the only option. Which one to reach for depends on what you are holding.
Use when: You know what the item is and can name it.
Type a title, then click Import stock photos. ResaleOS searches live listings for the same product and shows you their photos.
Best for branded, catalog-style items — sneakers, electronics, designer bags, furniture models.
Use when: The item has a barcode, UPC, or ISBN on it.
Scan the code from the product page. ResaleOS looks it up, then pulls the product name, details, and up to 8 images.
Best for books, media, cosmetics, and anything still in retail packaging.
Use when: You already have a link to the item or its photo.
Paste an image link or a whole product page URL and ResaleOS grabs the photos off it — several links at once, one per line.
Best when you found the exact listing yourself, or you are moving photos over from another site.

Upload by URL lives in the photo upload tile on the same product form — it reads Upload by URL when you have no photos yet, and shrinks to by URL once you do. Paste a direct image link or a full product page and ResaleOS pulls the gallery off it.
What it costs you
Importing photos is free and unlimited. What is metered is the search that finds them — because it is the same search that powers your AI price estimates, it draws from that monthly allowance.

Once a product has been searched, going back to import more of its photos costs nothing extra. Results are cached, so re-opening the picker on the same item is free. The picker shows up to 60 listings per search, with up to 12 photos inside each one.

When to use your own photos instead
These photos were taken by other sellers, of their item — not yours. That is fine for some listings and a problem for others, so it is worth being deliberate about it.
- New-in-box or sealed items, where every unit is identical
- Getting a product record into your catalog quickly
- A placeholder so the item is live while you shoot it properly
- Reference shots — the original packaging, a size chart, a detail you cannot capture
- Anything used, vintage, or one-of-a-kind
- Items with condition flaws a buyer needs to see
- Marketplaces that require photos of the actual item — most do for pre-owned goods
- Anything where a mismatch could trigger a not-as-described case
Photos belong to whoever shot them, and marketplace policies on reusing another seller's images vary. The safe habit: import to move fast, then replace with your own shots before the listing does real work. Your own photos convert better anyway.
Troubleshooting
The button is greyed out
The search needs a title to work from. Type at least a few words describing the item and the link becomes clickable.
No photos came back
You will see No product photos found yet. when nothing matched. Usually the title is too generic or too unusual — try the brand and model on their own, without size, condition, or your own shorthand.
More photos keep appearing
That is intentional. A fast first pass fills the picker, then a deeper marketplace scan runs in the background. Leave the picker open a few seconds longer for the full set.
I hit my monthly limit
Photo importing shares the AI price comparison allowance. You will be prompted to upgrade — or wait for the allowance to reset next billing cycle. Pro has no limit.
A photo failed to import
Some sellers' images are blocked from being copied. Pick a different listing, or grab the image link directly and use Upload by URL instead.
The item has a barcode
Skip the search entirely — scan it. Barcode lookup returns the product name, details, and images together, which is faster and more accurate than searching by title. See Create a product by scanning a barcode.
