Introduction to Account Creation
0:00 All right, so in the last video, we saw and had an introduction to accounts on ResaleOS. Now let's go see how to create one in the system. So from the accounts tab, we can click on add account over here, and this is the form to add a new account, and we'll go over everything more in depth in the next videos as well. Let's go over the basics, okay?
Entering Basic Information
0:27 So basic information about the person, so like John Doe, first and last name, if there is a company associated, you can add that there, john2atexample.com, phone number 213-588-1019. All right, and then you can specify tax information for the customer as well, in case maybe they're an interior designer, maybe they have a Resale certificate, they're a non-profit, you can add all that information over here.
Custom Fields and Address Details
1:01 Also, you can create custom fields, okay? So any fields that you want to record about the user, you can create them in the system in case they're not present by default on ResaleOS. So for example, ResaleOS does not have a how did you hear about us field, so I created that in my settings. You can create any fields you want, and those can be file uploads, in case you want to save like a PDF or something like that, or they can be text fields or number fields, anything
1:33 you want, you can create that from the settings, we'll see that in the next video, where we cover consignor and account settings. You can save address information if you want, let's do that, 2431 Mission Street, San Francisco, okay? You can enter more information about the type of location, and that kind of stuff that's useful in case you offer shipping, or maybe you want to mail, you know, physical mail to your customers and consignors, that kind of stuff.
Adding Notes and Tags
2:04 You can add any notes, okay? Like a referral from Mary, and referral, and you can type anything over here, and you can edit it. If you use tags for, you know, filtering and searching, and for your analytics, you can add tags over here, something like, you know, non-profit, and can add a tag over here. And you can add as many as you want.
Consignment and Contract Settings
2:39 Over here, you have your consignment settings, so again, this is particularly useful and really important for consignment stores. Here you enter the type of commission split, you know, on what's your percentage on sales that you keep from sales from this consignor. You enter your contract terms, okay? These are contracts that you save in the system beforehand, we'll go over that in the future videos as well. Any sales tax preferences, this is, you know, normally stores use our automated tax calculation
3:15 rather than specifying a specific percentage, but again, we'll go over this more in depth in future videos as well. And then you have surcharges, in case you charge like a cleaning fee, a consignor fee, in case you charge a payment fee, all these kind of fees you can enter in the surcharges section. We'll dive deeper into surcharges and fees later. And then markdown rules, in case you want to markdown these consignor's items over time
3:46 at a specific rate, okay? So you can set pricing rules and markdown rules for this consignor specifically as well. We'll dive deeper into all these settings in later videos. I just want you to know at this point, when you do create your consignors in the systems or your vendors in the system, this is where you come to specify all these settings, the splits, the terms, the taxes, the surcharges, the markdowns, all that kind of stuff.
Payout Preferences and Fees
4:12 Here you specify the payout preferences, how do they want to get paid, and you can turn on or off any of those payout methods, and then you enter the information here, John Doe. Recurring fees, these are fees that you can charge recurrently, like monthly, weekly. Maybe you have a rental fee, this is particularly important for vendor malls. We'll dive deeper into this in a later section as well.
Portal Permissions and Notifications
4:42 And then you have portal submissions, sorry, portal permissions. This is where you specify whether you want to let this customer, consignor, vendor, whatever you're creating in the system, whether you want to let them access the online consignor, vendor, and customer portal, and what kind of permissions do they have. Can they create and submit listings? Can they print labels? Can they use all these kind of functionalities?
5:10 So we'll have a video dedicated to the online portal, but just please mind that you can make a portal available to all your accounts in the system. So a portal that your consignors, or your customers, or your vendors can access to manage the relationship with you. We'll have a video for that. And then finally, notifications. So you want them to be alerted whenever an item is sold, or whenever there is an item intake, whenever there is a new payout, and you can fully customize those notifications
5:42 from your settings. You can imagine we have a dedicated video for that, so we'll go over that more in detail later. So I just save this account, and then immediately I get asked, since I assigned a contract to this account, it asks me, do you want to send the agreement to the person you want to print it so that you can collect signature? And we'll skip this for now because, again, we have a dedicated video for that, and we'll
6:07 go over contracts and collecting signatures in a later video. So I'm going to skip it for now. And that's it. Our account is created. You can see it's pretty lean right now. There is not much going on because they don't have a balance, they don't have items consigned, and there is not much information over here. But now you know how to create accounts. Now you know what kind of settings you can customize over here in the system.
6:33 And now we'll dive deeper into all these settings and all these preferences you can set for your accounts on ResaleOS. All right, that's it for now.
