4.1 Accounts: intro & account types

Introduction to Accounts on ResaleOS

0:00 All right, all right, all right. Let's get started with module number four, which is account on ResaleOS. Now there are a few concepts I'd like to go over in this first video. The first one is that, let's go to the accounts tab first. So this is where you manage all your accounts on ResaleOS.

Understanding Account Types

0:20 So the first concept I'd like to go over is what are accounts? On ResaleOS, accounts can represent any type of individual that has a relationship with your business, okay? So these can be customers, these can be consignors, vendors, suppliers, anyone that you get merchandise from, that you buy merchandise from, anyone that buys products from you. So all these types of accounts. If there are any more types of accounts, so anyone that falls outside of those ones that

0:53 we created in the system for you, you can create custom accounts on ResaleOS as well, with their own custom fields and all that kind of stuff, okay?

Managing Accounts and Customization

1:01 So over here in the accounts tab is where you manage those accounts, those consignors, vendors, customers, suppliers, whatever you want. Here, obviously, like in all the other tabs, you can do the regular searching and filtering, and you can customize this view to include and remove columns that you want, all right? Let's go take a look at any of those accounts. So let's open, for example, this Claire account. This is how the account page looks on ResaleOS.

Account Page Overview

1:29 You have a lot going on, and so let's go over it quickly. So first of all, you're going to see a timeline over here. This is kind of what has happened on ResaleOS related to this account. Any new items consigned, any new sales, purchases, email sent, all that kind of information. So you can always come over here, and everything is referenced and clickable. So I can click on this sale, for example, and it will open in a new tab, and I can see

1:59 what was the name. So I can see Claire. Claire is included in this sale as the consignor, so I can see this vintage wool jacket, which is an item we're consigning for Claire, has been sold, and hence, their sale has been updated. Sorry, their account has been updated with that item as well, and a new credit was made towards her account to deposit the split that she's owed by the store for that sale specifically. You can see on August 20th, she consigned a new item.

2:33 We can open this item as well. This is the item that Claire consigned for us, and you can see she's the consigner of this item. The main point here is for all these timeline events, you can always click on them, and they're always referenced. Now, let's start from the top.

Account Balances and Transactions

2:53 Every account has a balance in case they carry a balance with your store. So you can click on the balance, and you can see what's contributing to this balance. So I can see Claire has a $1,200 balance because she sold multiple items, and each line transaction is contributing to her current cash total. Now, whenever you do a payout for this consigner, then the balance is going to go down to zero, and the payout is going to show under her past payout.

3:24 So we can see we've already made a payout for Claire, and you can actually open this payout as well, and you can see what was included here. So this payout included a sale of a Brutalist marble sculpture, which we sold for Claire, and $375 were deposited. We later ran the payout and paid her out via Venmo. We also had a payout fee, and so her balance went down to zero, and then later she made more sales for which now she has a new balance.

3:54 Even here, the sale is referenced, so we can click on it and open it in a new tab, and the sale opens over here in a new page. All right, that's your balance. You can print the balance report. You can edit it, so you can always add a credit or debit to her balance and justify that with a note, and this is fully customizable. Some sales, depending on your preferences, don't get released immediately. So you can say, for example, we hold a sale balance for 15 days before it's actually released

4:31 to the consigner or the vendor. In that case, it will show up here, and that's also clickable, and you can view that.

Consignment and Sales Details

4:39 You can see how many items she's consigning and her total number of items consigned in the past. You can view all her sales, and you can always open this in a new tab to view all her sales, her currently consigned items, so the items that we're consigning for her and that are currently active in our catalog, any of her past purchases in case she's also a customer, and again, the past payouts, which you can open and expand.

5:12 So now you can see Claire, in this case, is both a consigner and a customer as well because she's selling through us and also buying from us. So that's why she has these different fields over here.

5:28 And there is much more to accounts, which we're going to go over in the next video. You have consignment terms. You have tax treatments, contact information, payout information recurrently, so there is a bunch more. We're going to go over all this in the next video. I just wanted to introduce you to the concept of accounts on ResultsOS, and really the most important thing from this video you should take away from this video is that accounts

5:57 on ResultsOS are basically any type of individual that you have a relationship with and that's viable for you to store information of. So that can be customers, suppliers, vendors, consignors, all these types of individuals, which probably depends on the type of business you are. If you're mostly an online seller, you might only collect information for customers. Or if you're a consignment store, it's probably mostly consignors and maybe customers as well.

6:27 If you're a vendor mall, it's probably mostly going to be vendors and maybe customers as well. If you are a dropshipper or maybe a buyout right store, you might have suppliers. It really depends. And again, those are customizable, so you can always choose the way accounts are labeled in the system. Anyways, everything is going to start to make even more sense in the next videos where we dive deeper into account settings and how to create accounts in the system.
