Introduction to Data Reconciliation

0:00 Okay, again, before we dive into actually exporting products, I promise we're going to get there. I wanted to go over another concept that's important to understand on ResaleOS, okay? So I opened this user account because I can show you more effectively what I mean with and explain more effectively this concept of data reconciliation, okay?

Sales Channel Catalog Scanning

0:25 So every time you connect a sales channel to ResaleOS, what we're going to do is we're going to scan the catalog you have in that channel to see what's already posted there and what isn't, okay? And so what that allows us to do is we can see out of the catalog that you carry on ResaleOS, which we assume is your source of truth, let's say you just connected your Depop, then we're going to see, okay, which of these items are already connected to Depop?

0:54 So that the system already knows which items are there and it's not going to double post them. It's going to tell you, hey, this item is already on Depop, you don't need to post it again, basically, okay? So again, every time you connect a sales channel, the system is going to scan it and it's going to see what's posted there already and what isn't, okay?

Identifying Duplicate Products

1:13 Now during the scanning process or even the import process, let's say you imported your products from Poshmark and Shopify and maybe some products are present in both platforms, then the system is going to flag duplicates, okay? And so let's go over how to manage duplicates and how to find out whether you have duplicates on those platforms after the scanning or the import, okay?

Managing Product Listings Across Channels

1:41 So from the products page, the products view, we go over to the channels view, okay? And this is basically a view that's just like a grid system, shows you which items are posted where, for which price, okay? So you can see each row is an item, okay? And each column is a sales channel and you can see which items are posted where, okay? And from here, you can delist, you can relist, you can change prices on just specific platforms.

2:15 This is a really nice view to manage your catalog in bulk, okay?

Filtering and Merging Duplicates

2:20 Part of what you can do from this view is you can look for duplicates only. So from the filter dropdown, from the view dropdown, let's look at possible duplicates, okay? And so now the system will show us, hey, I think this is the same item, okay? It might not be. So in this case, possibly it's not the same shirt. So in that case, we tell it, hey, it's not actually the same item. But let's find it. So this one looks like it's the same item, okay?

2:50 So the system is flagging it and saying like, hey, look, we have this product twice and it looks like it's posted on Shopify twice. And we can go actually view the product on Shopify. So okay, this is one. And then let's see. This is the other one, okay? So it's posted indeed on Shopify twice. So in this case, what we do is we just merge into one. Or you can do it from here as well, merge these two, okay? It can happen on like an item that's posted.

3:25 Maybe you have three duplicates, which, you know, like this dress over here, like one is posted on Depop. Let's see. You know, one is posted on Poshmark. Let's open it on Poshmark, okay? And then on Shopify as well. Wow, what a mess, okay? So it's the same item, you know, posted three times. Let's merge it all together. And then when you do that, the system is smart. I'm not going to do it now because I don't want to mess up this user's account.

3:54 But the system is smart enough to tell you, you know, hey, which item do you want to keep on Shopify? You know, you have it posted twice, remove it from one, you know, remove one of those. So we only keep one on Shopify, right? And so you kind of just condense everything into one product record, and you make sure it's only posted once per platform. Okay, I hope this makes sense. This view can be overwhelming at first, okay, there is so much going on.

Understanding System Suggestions

4:25 One important thing, and we're going to improve the design of it, is where you see this purple line, okay, that's what the system is suggesting to check, you know? So it's saying these two rows are possible matches. So if we go down to the dress, you see this line is longer, and it's saying, hey, these are the free rows flagging for possible duplicates, okay? There's a lot more to this view, but we're going to actually dive deeper into this in

4:57 another video of this module. All right, that's it for now.
