Introduction to Data Importing

0:00 I wanted to add another quick video about importing products to ResaleOS, importing data in general, on a few concepts that are important to understand. So, first thing I wanted to mention is, from the time you connect a sales channel, the system will automatically start syncing your sales to ResaleOS. What that means is, if I sell anything on eBay, Mercari, or Depop, from the time I connected them to ResaleOS, any of those sales will be imported to ResaleOS almost live, okay?

0:32 So, if we go to our sales tab, from here, we will see all our sales, independently of where they happened, as long as the sales channel is connected to ResaleOS. So, we can see our Mercari sales, our eBay sales coming in, and, you know, we don't have any Depop sales, but if you have sales on Depop, then those sales will start coming in as well. So, that's important.

Importing Historical Sales Data

0:53 Now, what if you want to import your historical sales? Okay, since we will only start importing sales from the time you connect the platform, some of you might be like, hey, actually, I'd like to have my historical sales here, so I can see some reports about my sales, I can do some data reconciliation, I can push some data to QuickBooks, that kind of stuff, okay? In those cases, just send us an email, info at ResaleOSco,

1:18 you can find our email in our demo and help section, and then just ask us, hey, can you import all my sales data from eBay, or from my eBay, Mercari, and Depop, and we will do that for you, it only takes us a few minutes, just reach out, okay?

Migrating Data from Other Systems

1:35 That's one thing. The other thing I wanted to mention is, we saw how to import your data from the sales channels, but what if you keep your data on some other system, okay? Like another consignment software, you might have your data on SimpleConsign, or on Bendu, so you come over to ResaleOSco slash dashboards slash migration, okay? And this opens a new window where we help you migrate your data from other systems, okay?

2:02 If you have your data on another system that's not listed here, let us know, and we can add it for you. Our migration tools allow you to import everything that you keep on those softwares, so your products, your sales, your consignors, your surcharges and splits, your payouts information, everything that you keep on those systems, and you can import everything. So if you have 20 years of historical data, we will import everything that you have on there,

2:33 and that's a really important tool. If you want to kind of really evaluate ResaleOS seriously for your business, and you want to see the entire dashboard being populated with your data, you can see how you can do payouts to your consignors here, and all that kind of stuff. So for that, you do want to import over your data, and you can always do that. And this doesn't require you to stop using your previous system, to stop using SimpleConsign, or stop using Bendu.

2:57 You can keep using those systems. In the meantime, you also see how ResaleOS works, and you evaluate whether you actually do want to make the switch for good. Okay, these are two concepts I wanted to cover.

Multiple Import Sales Channels

3:10 Another thing I wanted to mention is that something we recently added. You can have multiple import sales channels on ResaleOS. So let's say you have some listings on eBay, and you want to import your products from eBay, the first time you connect eBay to ResaleOS, but then you also have products on Mercari, and some of those products are not on eBay, okay? And so you do want to import those products over from Mercari as well.

3:38 And so you turn on Mercari as well. So now I have multiple import channels, okay? And that's totally fine. The system is not going to create duplicates on ResaleOS, even if you import from multiple sales channels, okay? So what that means is, now if I click on Import Products, the system is going to check eBay and Mercari, and it's going to import everything from eBay and Mercari, okay? But if a product is present both on eBay and Mercari, it's not going to import it twice.

4:09 It's only going to import it once, and the system recognizes, oh, that product is already present on both these platforms. So I'm just going to import it once, and then I'm going to, you know, mention, hey, this product is already present on both platforms. Well, if a product is only present on one, it will import it over on ResaleOS, so that you have the ability to export it to the other platform as well. I hope this makes sense.

4:32 The main point to take away here is that you can import from multiple platforms on ResaleOS, and ResaleOS is smart enough not to create duplicates. It recognizes whether the product is the same or not. In case the system is unsure, hey, is this the same product? It will ask you, and we will see that in the next video. All right, that's everything I wanted to cover here.

Using ResaleOS as Source of Truth

4:52 Actually, one very last thing, important concept, is when you start using ResaleOS, it makes sense to use ResaleOS as your source of truth. I mentioned this already in past videos, but I want to say it again. If you start making your changes outside of ResaleOS, and you don't make them on ResaleOS first, then that's when you start creating issues with data synchronization, and duplicate stuff, and that kind of stuff.

5:16 Make your changes on ResaleOS first, and then ResaleOS will reflect those changes on your other sales channels. Otherwise, if I start making changes on eBay directly, and then on eBay I have different prices than on ResaleOS, then that's when you start having discrepancies in information and start messing things up. So always make your changes on ResaleOS first, and then decide which platforms should reflect those changes externally as well.
