Introduction to Account Defaults
0:00 So, in this video, I wanted to go over the concept of account defaults. So, whenever you set up your organization settings about how do you want your accounts on Reachless to look like, so what are the default commission terms? What is the default markdown rule for your account? And so, I wanted to go over how do you manage those default settings and how do you overwrite them at the account level, at the product level, and at the checkout level, okay?
0:34 So, let me explain what I mean with this.
Organization Level Settings
0:36 Whenever you create a new account, if you've set up your settings with defaults, then any new accounts will inherit those organization settings. So, my default split is 50%, my default consignment terms are 90 day, tax rule, surcharges, markdown rules, all of those are already assigned on the account by default, okay? This is useful so that every employee doesn't have to manually assign those every time. If they're most commonly used for most consignors, then those are going to be assigned by default.
1:14 This is very helpful, but what if you need to change that? What if for this specific consignor, maybe you have a different term or a different split or you have additional surcharges, you can always change them at the account level, which we saw earlier when editing or creating a consignor, okay?
Product Level Inheritance
1:35 So, all straightforward up until here. Now, the products that you create in the system, okay, so let's look at a product we created earlier, will inherit those account rules if you assign the account to the product. So, let's assign a consignor to this product. Up until now, the product was store owned, now it's a consignment product because we assigned this to our consignor, John Doe. What that means is that the product will inherit all the terms and rules that this consignor
2:12 has. So, it will inherit the surcharges, it will inherit the commission split, the markdown rule, everything will be inherited. And you can see here there is a 50% commission, there is a markdown rule, which we all inherited because they were set on this consignor. Now, can they be overridden? Can these rules be changed at the product level? Yes, they can be changed at the product level. As you can see, you can click on them and you can change it so that the consignor remains
2:42 the same consignor, but then the product has different rules than what all the other products for this consignor normally have. So, you can always do that.
Point of Sale Overrides
2:50 You can have different rules based on what product you're creating in the system. Now, can you override this further? So, let's say you're checking out a customer at the point of sale, which we still need to see in our demo modules, but I'm going to quickly pull it up. And you're selling this item that you created, and which this item inherited the rules that the consignor had, right? The consignor rules, the product inherited those rules whenever we assigned a consignor
3:26 to it. Now, you're checking out this product because a customer is in store buying it. Can you override these rules? Yes, you can do it at the tilt as well. You can change it. You can change the commission structure. You can change the surcharges and fees, which you entered earlier. You can change the price and the markdown that happened. You can remove any past discounts. So, you can always change it at the point of sale.
3:52 So, what is the takeaway here?
Summary of Default Management
3:54 In the system, you create some organization defaults. Okay? So, like, what are your default terms? What is your default commission split? What are your default markdown rules? So, you create it at an organization level so that whenever you create a new account and you consignor in the system, they will inherit those rules. Can they be changed at the account level? Yes. So, if you assign an account to have different rules, you can change them at that point.
4:21 Then, if you assign a consigner to the product, you will also inherit the rules at that point. Can they be changed? Yes, they can be changed even at the product level. Organization level, account level, product level. Now, if you're checking out for that product, you're selling the product at the tilt, can you override the rules one more time? Yes, you can always do that at the tilt, at the POS. So, again, the takeaway here is you have default rules, so it makes it easier for you.
4:54 You don't have to specify them every time, but you can always override them at whichever level you are, whether that's at the organization level, at the account level, at the product level, or at the POS. Okay? That's pretty much it for this video. That's what I wanted to go over. It's an important concept to understand. It should be pretty intuitive, but it's important to know that this is the case and that's how the system works.
5:18 All right. Moving on to the next video.
