Vinted charges sellers nothing. Poshmark takes 20%. On Vinted the buyer pays a fee on top of the price, usually 5% + $0.70. On Poshmark the seller pays $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on $15 and up. On both, the buyer pays shipping. Poshmark is the bigger, more established US marketplace and is built for sellers who run a business. Vinted's US terms limit the service to personal, non-professional use. Use Poshmark for a business closet; Vinted is for clearing out your own wardrobe. Figures checked November 2026.

Fees: who pays, and how much
This is the main difference between the two, and it's a different model, not just a different rate.
Poshmark charges the seller. According to Poshmark's help center (checked November 2026), it takes a flat $2.95 on sales under $15. On sales of $15 or more it takes 20%, and you keep 80%. That covers payment processing and the prepaid shipping label. There's no listing fee and no subscription. Sellers in Texas also see a Texas Seller Fee Tax deducted from earnings, which started October 1, 2025.
Vinted charges the buyer. Sellers pay no commission. Each order carries a mandatory buyer fee, which Vinted's US price list (checked November 2026) says is "usually 5% + $0.70" of the item or bundle price. Vinted's October 2026 terms renamed it from the Buyer Protection fee to the Vinted fee, and reporting on that update found no change to how it's calculated. In sales imported by ResaleOS sellers, almost every US Vinted order matched $0.70 + 5% exactly. A small share matched $0.95 + 5%.
What you keep on the same sale
Sale price | Poshmark: you keep | Vinted: you keep | Vinted: buyer's fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | $7.05 | $10.00 | $1.20 |
| $25 | $20.00 | $25.00 | $1.95 |
| $50 | $40.00 | $50.00 | $3.20 |
| $100 | $80.00 | $100.00 | $5.70 |
The table ignores shipping and sales tax, which the buyer pays on both. That doesn't make Vinted 20% better in practice. Buyers compare total prices, and Poshmark buyers expect to make an offer, so Poshmark sellers often price a little higher to leave room. The difference is still real, especially under $15, where Poshmark's $2.95 is a large share of a $6 sale. For every marketplace's fees side by side, see what 28 marketplaces actually take.
Shipping
Poshmark uses one flat rate. The buyer pays $6.49 and the order ships USPS Ground Advantage (2–5 business days) on a prepaid label Poshmark emails you. A bundle from one closet ships for a single $6.49 up to 5 lb. Above that, the overweight cost comes out of the seller's earnings.
Vinted prices shipping by package size and by where the buyer and seller are. The buyer sees the total at checkout. After the sale, you tap Get shipping label in the conversation. You can print it or use a QR code at a USPS counter, or schedule a home pickup. Vinted's help center says lost or damaged packages are covered up to $100 on US domestic shipments.
In practice, Vinted's size-based pricing makes cheap, light items, like a $8 top, more appealing to buyers than they'd be on Poshmark at a flat $6.49. Poshmark's flat rate is better for heavier items under 5 lb: jeans, boots, a bundle of three sweaters.
Getting paid
- Poshmark: after the buyer receives the item, Poshmark releases the money to your Poshmark balance within 3 days of delivery, unless the buyer opens a case. From there you withdraw to your bank, or spend it on Poshmark.
- Vinted: an order completes when the buyer taps Everything is OK. If they don't, it completes automatically two days after delivery. You're paid within 2 days of completion, and the money moves from your Pending to your Available balance in the Vinted Wallet. Then you transfer it to your bank.
The two take about the same time: on both, expect the money roughly three to five days after the package arrives, plus the bank transfer.
Who's buying, and what sells
Poshmark: established US fashion marketplace
Poshmark has been the default US closet app for over a decade. Its buyers search by brand and size, and they expect to make offers. Women's clothing, shoes and handbags are the core, alongside men's, kids', home and beauty. Mid-priced and premium brands do best. Social features drive visibility: sharing, Posh Parties, and Posh Shows for live selling.
Vinted: big in Europe, still small in the US
Vinted is one of Europe's largest secondhand fashion apps. In the US it has operated for years with a much smaller user base, and in early 2026 it announced a bigger US push, starting with New York. It has also tested buying and selling between the US and UK. Buyers come for low prices: everyday brands and kids' clothing at a few dollars, with no seller commission pushing prices up.
The catch for resellers: Vinted US is personal-use only
Vinted's US terms say the service is for personal benefit, not professional purposes. Unlike in Europe, there's no Vinted Pro business account in the US (still true after the October 2026 terms update). A consignment store or full-time reseller listing inventory there is outside those terms, and the account could be restricted. Read the current terms before you put business stock on Vinted.
Poshmark has no such limit. Boutiques, consignment stores and full-time resellers all sell there, and it has dedicated programs for wholesale boutiques. If reselling is your business, Poshmark is the one built for you. Vinted is a good outlet for your own clothes, and the zero seller fee makes small personal sales worthwhile in a way Poshmark's $2.95 minimum doesn't.
Vinted is also strict about automation. It actively blocks bots and has limited third-party tools. We cover each marketplace's rules on tools in Is crosslisting against the rules?.
Which should you choose?
You run a resale business or consignment store
Poshmark. It allows business sellers, the audience is larger, and the 20% includes shipping labels and payment processing. Put eBay, Mercari and Depop alongside it rather than Vinted.
You're clearing out your own closet
Vinted first for anything under about $20, where Poshmark's fee takes the biggest share. Use Poshmark for brand-name pieces that will get offers.
You mostly sell cheap, light items
Vinted prices both the fee and the shipping by size and value, so a $6 top doesn't carry $6.49 shipping and a $2.95 commission.
You sell brand-name or designer pieces
Poshmark, at least for now. More US buyers search there by brand, and prices hold up better than on an app built around bargains. See luxury resale in 2026 for higher-end channels.
Selling on both: crosslisting Vinted and Poshmark
If you sell your own items on both, the risk is selling the same item twice. Neither app knows about the other: a Vinted sale doesn't end the Poshmark listing, and a Poshmark sale doesn't end the Vinted one. Condition and size options also differ: Poshmark's Like New doesn't line up exactly with Vinted's Like new or Very good. Our reseller abbreviations guide maps them.
ResaleOS lists to both from one item record, using each marketplace's own categories, sizes and condition options. When the item sells on one, it delists it from the others. Setup for each is on the Poshmark crosslisting and Vinted crosslisting pages. On Vinted, check the personal-use rule above first.

Can I sell on Vinted and Poshmark at the same time?
Yes, as long as you delist the item from the other app the moment it sells, or use a crosslisting tool that does it for you. Keep in mind that Vinted's US terms limit the service to personal use, so business inventory belongs on Poshmark and other marketplaces that allow business sellers.
