Product Settings Overview

0:00 We're going to go over your product settings and your product defaults and rules.

Item Defaults Tab

0:08 So as we saw briefly earlier, you have a item defaults tab. This is where you set your defaults. So every time you create an item, if you want to assign default values for the status or the condition or quantity, for example, you can do that here. We also saw how you can customize the AI generation. If you want your titles to look a specific way, same with the description, you can also add additional rules. For example, if you don't want the AI to generate your dimensions or your tags, or you want

0:39 it to do it in a specific way, you can do and specify all that here.

Custom Product Metafields

0:45 Then we have custom product metafields. So this is a really nice feature. Let's say the product form, let's open the product form in another tab, slash product. Let's say the product form doesn't include some details that you normally use. Let's pull up another product to give it a twist and view a different product every now and then. So let's say some stuff is missing here. I don't have specific information. For example, we talked in another video about some sellers wanting to record information

1:18 about where the product should physically be located in their inventory. For example, they record for each product a specific shelf letter, or a box name, or a room name. We don't have that here. So what you might want to do is add that field as a custom metafield. So we call it a shelf letter. Let's say I have a bunch of shelves where I store my items. Each shelf is labeled with a letter. That's the field I'm creating over here.

1:56 What type is it? It's a list of values and single line text. That's the type of values we want to create. So let me save that shelf letter. Okay, that's my custom metafield. So now if I reload this page, I should see the custom metafield. I apologize, I'm confused. Let me add a new product. Oh, I think I saw it. No, I don't see it. Yeah, sorry, I apologize. Here it is. Shelf letter under product metafields. Let me see if it was available in the other product.

2:50 Yeah, shelf letter. I'm really sorry. This took longer than expected. But so now my custom metafields are over here and you can add the shelf letter, a, a new entry, a, at, boom, okay? So you can do that for all your products, create custom metafields. They can also be file uploads. So let's add a new metafield name is receipt. Let's say I bought this product and I saved the receipt. I want to save the receipt for the product.

3:22 We make it one value, a file upload, save, let's reload. I keep getting lost. Receipt over here, upload the file, save the file. Let's just upload a random file and I save my receipt for this product over here. Awesome feature.

Shipping Package Customization

3:44 You can customize your product. Shipping packages. If you ship your items all in the same types of packages, maybe you have different boxes and envelopes that you use, you can save them here so that whenever you create a new product, you can just assign that specific package type that you created to that product. So you already know you ship this in your envelope, your five by four envelope. You just click on that envelope over here and you assign that shipping package to this

4:17 product. Why is this important? This is important for shipping calculations. So all the platforms and sales channels you're going to sell your products on are going to have a way to calculate shipping for the customer, for your item, and they need to know this kind of information. And that's why you want to save that information over here.

Category Tree Customization

4:37 Now, ResaleOS uses a specific category tree. Let me close this page. So every time you create an item, you can assign it a category. Now, this category tree is our own category tree, is the one we decided is a good comprehensive category tree. If you don't agree with it, you can customize your own category tree. For example, you can turn on and off entire branches. Maybe I don't sell vehicle parts. I don't sell toys, sporting goods.

5:09 I only sell apparel. I'm just going to leave that category on and you might turn off shoes, for example. You save that and your category tree is customized. All right.

Pricing Rules Introduction

5:23 These are item defaults. We're moving on to pricing rules.
