Stouffer Studio, Chicago — one of the most respected American china painting studios of the early 20th century (active roughly 1906–1914 in their prime collectible period). They painted on Limoges blanks (that’s the small “Limoges France” label you can see in the upper right of the back). The oval red stamp reading “Hand / Stouffer / Painted” is their classic mark.
The decoration is classic Stouffer — wild roses (dog roses) in pink and mauve on a sage green ground with heavy gold border and gilded vine stems. The four-panel cartouche layout on the center field is a refined Art Nouveau touch. The brushwork is fluid and professional.
Form: Rectangular dresser/vanity tray with shaped “cartouche” corners — very typical of the era
