1920s Slingerland “Perfect Tone” Tenor Banjo with Original Case
A beautifully preserved piece of American musical history, this 4-string tenor banjo was made by the Slingerland Company of Chicago during the height of the banjo craze of the 1920s. The “Perfect Tone” model features a warm-toned wooden resonator with elegant green purfling detail, its original animal skin head, and simple dot inlays on an ebonized fretboard.
Slingerland — better known today as a drum maker — was once one of America’s largest banjo manufacturers, producing instruments that fueled the parlors and dance halls of the Jazz Age. This example retains all its original components and comes in its period hard-shell case lined in purple velvet.
