A wonderful piece of American domestic history — this antique National Washboard Co. No. 65 features a corrugated zinc scrubbing surface set in a solid hardwood frame with its original soap ledge intact. The stenciled label reads clearly: “National Washboard Co. — Patent Applied For — Made in U.S.A. — Chicago, Saginaw, Memphis,” dating this piece to the 1920s–1930s. The wood has developed a rich honey patina and the zinc surface shows the honest oxidation of a well-used working tool. A classic American primitive and farmhouse décor piece — equally at home in a folk art collection, a vintage kitchen display, or as a photo prop. Legs are present and sturdy.
