1936 Shanghai Calendar Poster Nugget Boot Polish Advertising Chinese Pin Up Girl Lithograph Vintage Art Deco Antique Ad Print

A rare original 1930s Chinese advertising calendar poster (known as “yuefenpai”) for Nugget Boot Polish, a British shoe polish brand that was widely marketed in pre-war Shanghai. This is the iconic Shanghai “calendar girl” style — a fashionable young woman in a patterned silk qipao seated gracefully before lush chrysanthemum blooms, rendered in soft, romantic lithographic color.

The bilingual English/Chinese banner across the top reads “NUGGET BOOT POLISH,” flanked by the brand’s charming bowing-boy mascot shining a boot. The tagline “Did you ‘Nugget’ your boots this morning?” appears twice, and product graphics for Nugget Black, Brown, Cream, and White Dressing polish tins and bottles decorate the lower corners. Down both sides run full printed calendar grids in the Gregorian and Republic-era Chinese dating systems, dated 1936 — a hallmark of this advertising format, meant to hang in homes and shops all year as a daily-use calendar that kept the brand in view.
