Authentic vintage Russian Mstera lacquer miniature trinket/jewelry box featuring the classic Pushkin fairy tale scene "Three Maidens by the Window" (Три девицы под окном).

Hand-painted in the famous village of Mstera, Russia, this papier-mâché lacquer box displays the delicate tempera painting and gold ornamentation for which Mstera artists are renowned. Signed by the artist in Cyrillic initials "П. В." (P.V.), an unidentified Mstera artist working for the Proletarskoye Iskusstvo cooperative during the Soviet period.

The interior is finished in traditional red lacquer and the box retains its original presentation box, Russian workshop certificate, and painted matryoshka charm—features seldom found together.

Mstera lacquer art developed from Russia's centuries-old icon painting tradition and is celebrated for its soft color palette, finely detailed landscapes, and intricate gold ornamentation.
