Elevate your gallery wall with this exquisite vintage woven silk picture. This piece is a high-quality reproduction of a classic 19th-century "Stevengraph," featuring a serene pastoral landscape. The level of detail in the weaving—from the wind-swept tree to the figures looking out over the valley—creates a stunning texture that captures light beautifully.

Unique 3D Dimensionality

Unlike standard flat silk prints, this piece features a stuffed "Trapunto" style effect. The silk has been skillfully padded from behind to create physical depth and a raised, embossed texture (Stumpwork). When viewed from the side or in natural light, the landscape literally stands out from the background, casting subtle shadows and giving the scene a lifelike, sculptural quality.

This piece was originally sold by the "Great Impressions" boutique in St. Louis Park, MN, known for authentic replicas and creative graphics. It comes beautifully housed in a heavy, ornate gold-gilt wood frame with a rich black velvet mat that makes the silk artwork pop.

Medium: Woven Silk (Jacquard weave)

Subject: Pastoral Landscape / The Outlook

Frame: Ornate Gold Wood Frame with Velvet Matting

Dimensions: 8x10

Provenance: Label from Great Impressions, St. Louis Park, MN on reverse.

Perfect for lovers of Victorian-style decor, English country cottage aesthetics, or vintage textile art.

Provenance & Shop History

This piece features the original gallery label on the reverse from Great Impressions, a boutique formerly located at 6100 Excelsior Blvd in St. Louis Park, MN.

During the 1970s and 80s, this area of Excelsior Boulevard was a hub for high-end specialty shops. Barbara Lee, the proprietor listed on the label, specialized in "Authentic Imported Monumental Brass Replicas & Creative Graphics." She was known for sourcing traditional European art forms—like these woven silks—and custom-framing them with high-quality materials (such as the velvet matting and gold-gilt frame seen here) to suit the sophisticated interior design trends of the era.

Owning a piece from Great Impressions is a nostalgic nod to the local Twin Cities art scene and ensures a level of craftsmanship that far exceeds modern mass-produced decor.
