I love the design of this vintage pottery piece. This is heavy pottery with a dark brown glaze inside. The outside has a lighter glaze on the brown and I think I would call the flower a lotus, but I'm open to other ideas.:) The design is carved into the pieces. It's just beautiful. I've shown the mark in the second photo, but I've never been able to make it out. I can see that it says France and a couple of words at the bottom, but that's it. It's a high quality piece of pottery. This measures about 3' high and 4 1/2" in diameter, not counting the spout. In great condition. There is some glaze chipping at the rim as seen in the last photo, but nothing major and it doesn't really detract.
