Vintage Japanese Satsuma moriage cabinet plate with cobalt blue border and elaborate raised gold decoration. This large octagonal plate measures approximately 14" x 10" and is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or noticeable fading.

It It looks The center scene depicts elegantly dressed women in kimonos gathered in a garden setting beneath a flowering tree. The surrounding border is richly decorated with hand-painted pink and peach blossoms, floral medallions, and delicate contrasting dots against a deep cobalt blue background.

The flowers, figures, and scrollwork are highlighted with raised gold moriage decoration, giving the plate exceptional depth and detail. The entire rim is finished in gold.

The back is marked “SATSUMA” with traces of a faded red decorator’s mark. Pieces marked simply “SATSUMA” in English were generally made for export and are usually dated to the mid-20th century, circa 1930s–1950s.
