A Beautiful Pair of Mid-Century Silk History in Need of a Caretaker.
I am offering two exquisite, unsigned vintage silk pocket squares (or small neckerchiefs). Both feature a delicate, hand-rolled edge and a stunning abstract botanical print characteristic of the 1950s/60s. These are identical designs in two different color palettes: a vibrant orange/cream and a soft mustard yellow/cream.
Condition Report (Please Read Carefully):
These pieces are currently experiencing "shattering," a natural aging process where the silk fibers become brittle.
Orange Scarf: Features a dime-sized hole on one edge and significant thinning in one corner.
Yellow Scarf: One corner is currently knotted to prevent further tearing (needs gentle untying). Another corner has a 0.75" hole with the interior threads still intact (resembling the "distressed" look of denim). There is a third thinning spot along the edge with three small slit-shaped holes (each under 0.25").
A Note from the Seller:
I deeply appreciate the history and craftsmanship of these hand-rolled silks, but I currently lack the finances and specialized archival storage to properly stabilize or restore them. I am looking to re-home these to a collector, textile artist, or conservator who has the resources to give them the professional care and preservation they deserve.
Shipping: Will be shipped flat and handled with extreme care to prevent further stress to the fibers. Feel free to reach out with any questions. All prices are negotiable!
