I have reimagined, reupholstered and dedicated this stately fauteuil to Mexico’s tragic last empress, Carlota, née Princess Charlotte of Belgium. Louis XV style furniture was a favorite of hers when she and Emperor Maximiliano resided at Chapultepec Castle. For the upholstery I've married Mexican indigenous artisanry with French design. The backrest is covered with new hand embroidery made by the indigenous Otomi women of Tenango de Doria, Mexico. New warm brown-gold leather seat and black velvet back. Every Otomi embroidery is a unique work of art. This chair was made in High Point, North Carolina, late 20th Century by Woodmark Originals, a division of Howard Miller Furniture. See
