Because of the handwriting style on the bottom of the chair and details of construction, we surmise this chair is 200 years old or more. We don't know if Madison is the name of the chair maker or the chair's owner. The painted details, though faded, are lovely. One of the rockers has been repaired with metal many years ago. The piece is quite sturdy despite its age and the mentioned repair. See
