This is a very rare hand painted ERROR.
In the early days of Gladding, McBean & Co. (the 1929–1939 window), these pieces were being hand-painted by artists who were still establishing the "Wild Rose" aesthetic that would eventually become the uniform Desert Rose we see today.
The "In-Between" Phase: Because this was the "Wild Rose" series before it was standardized for mass production under the Franciscan label, the artists were often inconsistent. You will see 4-petal blossoms (Dogwood style) and 5-petal blossoms (Wild Rose style) on the same piece.
This mistake makes this piece unique, backstamped as El Rancho, and intended to a Wild Rose pattern, what we actually see here is a very obscure hybrid between the two.
