French Early Victorian Rose-Cut Diamond Ring circa 1838–1850

An authentic early Victorian ring crafted in silver-topped gold, a common French technique of the mid-19th century.and marked with an early French eagle head gold guarantee introduced in 1838. The ring centers a natural rose-cut diamond measuring approximately 2.1–2.2 mm in diameter (approx. 0.04 ct), framed by a halo of period rose-cut colorless accent stones typical of mid-19th-century French jewelry.

The open-back construction, hand-cut settings, and lightweight shank reflect transitional workmanship bridging late Georgian style and early Victorian design. The piece retains its original character, including most of its period accent stones.

Condition note: One accent stone is absent, and one halo accent stone has been replaced with a small round single-cut diamond during a later historical repair. These features are documented in imagery and are consistent with age and authentic wear.

A refined and quietly elegant example of early French diamond work, notable for intimate scale, original construction, and a clearly legible early eagle hallmark.
