The cameo depicts a classical female profile, expertly hand-carved from genuine helmet shell, a marine gastropod prized for its layered structure and suitability for fine cameo work. 

The cameo is securely set within an elegant elongated openwork mounting, stamped PSCo on the bail. The bezel and primary structural elements test as solid 14K gold, while select decorative components are gold-filled, consistent with period manufacturing techniques. The pendant is suspended from a solid 14K gold chain, which complements the warm tones of the mounting beautifully.

Under magnification, the cameo exhibits crisp hand-carved detail and natural shell characteristics, confirming traditional carving methods rather than modern laser production.
