This well preserved Late Victorian / Early Edwardian Rock Crystal Necklace is an exceptional turn of the century piece. Circa 1890-1920, each of these individually hand-faceted beads are a hallmark of hand-cut European rock crystal, likely hand-cut in the German or Austrian crystal cutting houses of the time.

Hand-cut rock crystal beads of this depth and graduation were produced prior to mechanized bead cutting, making this a surviving example of late Victorian crystal craftsmanship, before pre-industrial crystal bead cutting. 

Expertly graduated from approximately 6mm to an impressive 16mm, each bead displays crisp hexagonal faceting, characteristic of early hand-cut crystal work, producing exceptional brilliance and light play. There are seventy hand-cut beads in all, each individually knotted between each bead, reflecting fine craftsmanship and ensuring both durability and elegant drape. 

With a substantial total weight of 91.11 grams, this necklace has a satisfying presence while remaining graceful and wearable. The rock crystal is clear and lively, showing only minimal, age appropriate variation consistent with genuine antique materials. Overall the condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or repairs observed. 

The necklace measures 28 inches, is finished with a period-appropriate silver clasp and is in excellent antique condition. #90 #A.
