This unique mid-century modernist ring is crafted from 14 karat yellow gold and polished to a bright finish. The setting is uniquely designed to showcase the lab-created red spinel held within. Inspired by the Fresnel lens used in lighthouses, Richard Strellman created his signature Lighthouse Lens cut. The gemstones are faceted, similar to a lighthouse lens that directs the beam of light out to sea. These fascinating stones reflect light in the same manner. Strellman's signature cut is truly a fantasy cut on an entirely other level.

Strellman's Jewelry was founded in 1948 by Richard Strellman – the name quickly became synonymous with dramatic jewelry. Originating in Oregon, this American company is now based in Minnesota and has become world famous for its original lighthouse lens cut.  Every one of these showstopping jewels begins with a piece of rough (or raw) gemstone of at least 125 carats. The rough is cut with the grain to maximize brilliance, sparkle, and color dispersion. After refining, the result is a finished stone weighing approximately 10.00 carats. This is why he only uses lab-created rough. Acquiring natural gemstone rough and then discarding all but a portion of the rough in the creation of this fantasy cut would make the cut cost-prohibitive.  

The lighthouse lens cut, lab-created spinel set in the ring measures ~9mm x 6mm x 6mm, features a bright red color with eye-clean clarity. The vintage condition is very good - excellent with only minimal wear.
