Description:Up for sale is a beautiful mid-century piece of American stoneware history: a Red Wing Pottery "Provincial Ware" handled bowl. This style (#22) was originally marketed as an individual casserole dish or "Petite Marmite" soup crock. It features a rustic, textured terracotta clay exterior and a smooth, dark brown glossy interior. The underside clearly features the hand-incised numbers "17" and "22" near the base of the handle, typical of the Provincial Ware production style.Perfect for serving French onion soup, stews, chilis, or as a rustic kitchen decor piece.Condition:Pre-owned, vintage condition. No major structural cracks on the main body. Exterior shows normal light vintage wear, minor shelf scuffs, and manufacturing variations inherent to raw clay pottery.
