Hard to find artisanal studio stoneware covered casseroles signed by Garnier in the Canadian Beauce tradition of glazed finishing. These casseroles have been on a shelf display since purchased in 1998 and never used yet. They are, however, designed to go from "oven-to-table" and are made to last a lifetime. Both of them are round in shape with one larger than the other. The bigger is 11" W x 8" H and the other measures at 10" W x 7" H. They have an opalescent quality that seems to reflect the Canadian Beauce tradition of ceramic glazing. This set incorporated tones of blue and taupe and hues of green and honeysuckle over an opalescent ivory semi white background. The lids have coiled ribbon style handles as do the basins on each side.Each of the two are signed Garnier although different in formats. The larger carries what looks like a formalized trademark style of logo and the other looks like a signature that is very much like that of Canadian Master Potter, Jacques Garnier. It is unknown whether Monsieur Garnier handcrafted either of these two ceramics.
