A swicker style boho chic square shaped 24" x 24" x 24" side table with a faux wood grain formica top. The small square gueridon table stands with confidence on sturdy legs of mimicked straight bamboo shoots that are shaped like stanchions. The piece is supported by cross stretchers that are raised about 5 inches above the floor ensuring that the table remains solid and not wobbly in the slightest. The carved imitation bamboo trim at the tabletop edge as well as the cross stretchers have notches that are stylized to appear like real bamboo rattan. In the 1950's, like other popular items that became associated with the Mid-Century Aesthetic movement, the top of the table bares a mock wood formica top.Although there is no makers mark discoverable, attribution is given to R. J. Horner & Co. Established in New York City in 1886, it was an American furniture company best known for their Victorian furnishings featuring elaborate carvings and lavish detailing like this side table. Ficks-Reed Furniture Company, circa (1950s) was another company that styled and produced items like this.
