A set of neoclassical cannonball handled brass and iron fireplace hearth tools. There are 4 essential fireplace tools and a matching stand. Among the individual pieces is a flat edged shovel needed to clean the hearth and move things around, a stoker to keep the logs moving when they need a little push, a small broom to pick up some embers in and around your hearth to keep things tidy, and a set of wrought scissor like iron tongs to move and shake the big logs once things got fired up. Finally, a display holder with a brass gallery on its pebble like embossed cast iron base and a polished brass neck rest which allows the set to stand at attention year round even when on summer vacation and they aren't needed so often. The scissor tongs are not original to the set which only one would know because he doesn't have the brass cannonball handles. But that didn't seem to matter to any of us as he does the hard work of the heavy log lifting and seems to be able to keep the fire roaring and keep the fire roaring. My family first purchased the ball set in the early 80s and we eventually realized that we needed a pair of tongs to really get the fire roaring. We wondered how bringing in a tong from a different brand would work and if the other sticks would be in sync. Well, the whole set works so well together that from the first day all of the tools set immediately put their feet to the flame and got things toasty so nicely that we never brought up their difference again and figured it would be best not to let the flames die down as they always did.
