This Japanese cast iron teapot features the classic hobnail (arare) texture, a design rooted in traditional tea culture and widely produced for export in the late 20th century. The rounded form and pinecone finial reflect a decorative interpretation of earlier tetsubin kettles, adapted for everyday tea service rather than direct heat use.
The teapot is constructed from cast iron with a black enamel-lined interior and includes a removable metal infuser basket. Surface shows light wear consistent with age, including minor oxidation at the rim and interior enamel wear from use. Handle is intact and stable.
These enamel-lined examples were produced for brewing loose leaf tea and remain popular for their heat retention and visual presence. Suitable for serving, not for stovetop use.
