This exquisite hand-colored etching by renowned Austrian artist Herta Czoernig-Gobanz (1886–1970) depicts the historic house at No. 2 Pfarrplatz in Vienna-Heiligenstadt. This landmark is famously known as one of the residences of Ludwig van Beethoven, where he lived on the first floor of the building's left wing. Adding to its scholarly charm, the etching includes a musical notation from the opening of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 26, Op. 81a, famously titled "Les Adieux" (composed 1809–1810).
The artwork is a testament to Czoernig's specialization in "Musicians' Homes," a series that captures the architectural and atmospheric essence of the great composers' lives. This piece is professionally matted in a generous 13.75" x 11.5" mat and housed in a substantial 23" x 22" frame. The large-scale framing provides a grand presentation for the delicate 7.5" x 7.5" etching, making it a sophisticated focal point for any library, music room, or gallery wall.
The condition is excellent, with the hand-applied colors remaining vibrant and the frame showing minimal wear. It is a rare find for classical music enthusiasts, historians, or collectors of fine Viennese graphic arts.
