This exquisite antique porcelain platter was manufactured by Bernardaud & Co. in Limoges, France, dating to the early 20th century (circa 1900-1914). Measuring a substantial 15.5 inches in width, the platter features a rare octagonal form that distinguishes it from more common oval serving pieces of the era. The design is centered on a brilliant white ground, decorated with lush sprays of hand-accented pink roses, verdant green foliage, and subtle blue and yellow highlights. The composition is framed by a thick, gold-gilded rim that retains much of its original luster.
The platter is crafted from high-fired Limoges porcelain, renowned for its delicate appearance and superior structural strength. The reverse bears the official underglaze green "B & Co FRANCE" mark of the Bernardaud foundry. While the piece is in excellent functional condition, it displays authentic signs of vintage character, including minor surface utensil marks and localized rubbing to the gold gilding on the outer edges, consistent with over a century of formal use.
This serving tray represents the height of French Belle Époque tableware and serves as an exceptional centerpiece for a traditional dining service or as a decorative anchor in a china cabinet. Its large scale and distinctive geometric shape make it a high-value acquisition for collectors of fine French porcelain or those looking to bring a touch of Parisian elegance to a modern farmhouse or traditional kitchen.
