This vintage candlestick features the iconic #1307 "Keyhole" stem produced by the Cambridge Glass Company during the 1930s. A staple of American Art Deco design, the keyhole blank is characterized by its elegant geometric open-center stem and broad, stable base. This piece has been elevated with an intricate .999 fine silver overlay, likely decorated by a specialist firm such as Silver City or Rockwell. The silver pattern features elaborate Baroque-style scrolls and a central heraldic cartouche on the base, finished with a heavy silver-rimmed socket.
The glass is exceptionally clear, typical of the high-quality flint glass for which Cambridge was renowned. The silver overlay remains largely intact and has been lightly polished to showcase its brilliant luster, though it retains a soft vintage patina in the recessed areas of the design. The piece is physically robust, but as with all depression-era glass, it exhibits minor variations from the molding process and very light shelf wear on the underside of the base.
This candlestick represents a sophisticated choice for collectors of Art Deco glass. When displayed alone or as part of a matched grouping, the combination of architectural glass and luxurious precious metal overlay provides a touch of timeless brilliance to any holiday or formal table setting.
