In good condition for its age. Age appropriate wear and patina to the wood. This is a pretty old piece, not quite antique but I believe possibly from the 1940s or 1950s. Meant to be a journal but the pages were removed, however, there is a charming inscription by the original owner as seen in the photos. Would make a great conversation starting decor piece or you can attempt to add paper to make it a journal again.
