This is an amazing vintage MCM Christmas rarity of a gem!!! Amazing condition. Wick has never been burned as this was a store display extra large version meant to attract customers to smaller, regular size candles by Tavern Candle Company!

Tavern produced these giants for department-store windows and Woolworth’s holiday displays. They were advertised as “Paraffin Santa—For Display Only”, part of the company’s premium line.

Each candle was hand-painted after unmolding, which explains slight variations in facial expressions and paint tone.

He is HEAVY!

Material: Solid paraffin wax with hand-painted details (red body, black gloves & boots, white eyes)

Base: Solid with an oval mold recess — a hallmark of Tavern’s large display molds

Wick: Single centered cotton wick at hat tip.

Preservation Tips

   •   Keep below 75 °F (24 °C) and out of direct sunlight.

   •   Dust gently with a dry microfiber cloth.

   •   Store upright, wrapped in acid-free tissue.

   •   Avoid attics/garages; temperature swings cause cracking.
