A breathtaking pair of authentic, signed David Marshall Brutalist candlesticks.
Handcrafted in Spain during the 1980s, these candlesticks are a prime example of Marshall’s iconic "functional sculpture." They feature a striking, organic wavy silhouette that mimics molten metal or vines. The design masterfully blends heavy, highly polished solid brass on the bases and cups with a textured, matte sand-cast aluminum shaft.
Because each piece was cast by hand in the studio, the two pillars have slight variations in height and contour, creating a beautifully balanced, non-identical pair. They elevate any table setting, mantelpiece, or mid-century modern credenza.
The Signature of Authenticity:
Both candlesticks proudly display the integrated "dm" artist monogram permanently stamped into the top of the molten brass bases. They also retain their original heavy leather protective backings underneath to protect your surfaces.

David Marshall
David Marshall (b. 1942) is a Scottish-born sculptor and designer who has become one of the most recognizable figures in Spanish Brutalist metalwork. Though he was born in Edinburgh, his artistic identity is inextricably linked to the mountains of southern Spain, where he has lived and worked for over 50 years. Over the decades, Marshall expanded his reach globally, studying traditional carving and welding techniques in Thailand, Java, Bali, and Rajasthan. His work moved from pure sculpture into functional art, including mirrors, furniture, high-end trophies and a notable body of bespoke trophies and awards for private clients and clubs. His pieces remain staples of mid-century modern and contemporary design galleries in New York, London, Madrid, in the Rocky Mountains of Clark, Colorado, valued for their rugged elegance and the distinct "human hand" evident in every casting.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The brass displays a rich, warm, and sophisticated natural patina. The aluminum sections maintain their authentic industrial texture. No cracks, repairs, or deep damage. Interior candle cups show light remnants of wax.
