"Imaginary Portrait of Michael Frimkiss" by Richard Merkin in 1965. Richard Marshall Merkin was an American painter, illustrator and arts educator. Merkin's fascination with the 1920s and 1930s defined his art and shaped his identity as a professional dandy. This art work has to be an homage to the ceramic artist, Michael Frimkess. Frimkess was an American ceramic artist who lived in Venice, California. In the 1950s and 60s, he was a pupil of Peter Voulkos, a prominent figure in the California Clay Movement. This work of art is made with a mixture of materials with abstract imagery and texts exploding with overstimulating information. It is professionally framed in gold with glass over the artwork and a thick off white matte. It is in good condition for its usage with minimal signs of wear.
