Stirking Pair of Haitangzun Vases from the 18th Century. The pair of vases are practically identical and belong together with their laborious details and design. They have a concave neck with an everted rim, a top-heavy body, and a low flaring foot. One is predominately red and the other is mainly blue. They both have decorations of dragons with lotus flowers and other flowering elements. In the 18th century, the dragon symbol transitioned from purely evil medieval folklore to a more nuanced figure representing immense power, greed, or fierce personality. The inclusion of the lotus flower brings purity, spiritual transcendence, and rebirth. They are both in good condition with minimal visible wear to the cloisonné material.
