Rococo Revival Wood Chevalet Easel, 19th Century. The easel has a superb boldly carved crest with shell, leaf, and scroll decoration. It has a turned knob to the adjustable shelf and a conforming apron to support a painting. The tall frame is detailed with openwork scrolls and a floral cartouche, while the lower section carries a carved stretcher and curled feet that echo the ornament above. Gilded accents and time earned patina bring depth to the carved relief, highlighting the layered foliage and curves throughout the form. It is in good condition with visible and minimal wear from usage.
