"Pacific Light" by Stephen McMillan. The color lithograph is made up of a four plat aquatint etching and shows the ocean cliffs and the rocky sea coast around the south of McClures Beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore in California. For this single print, McMillan used four separately drawn and etched plates, each inked with a different color. He planned carefully how much ink to use in order to blend the colors and hues aesthetically in the finished work. This method is best described in his words, "It doesn't really look like a photograph ... If you look closely, you see patterns and brushwork. It is more like an abstract pattern. The labyrinth-like way the branches intertwine with each other is like a mosaic or a stained-glass window - pieces of color. I wouldn't want it to look just like a photograph.". The print is numbered as an Artist Proof with his signature. It is in good condition for its usage. About the Artist: Steve McMillan is an avid nature photographer. He takes pictures in his immediate surroundings and also in faraway places. He isolates the shapes and the colors of his liking in the pictures and works on them to create the evocative, often dreamy world.
