It features a custom made wooden base with a footrest, sturdy shelves, smooth-rolling casters and its original brass plate by "Sub-Sea Artifacts" marked “Diamond Head 1945" and "Annapolis, Maryland" for authenticity. •Overall measurements: 74” long x 22” deep x 44.5” high. History: The USS Diamond Head (AE-19) was constructed by North Carolina Shipbuilding Co. in Wilmington, North Carolina, and was launched on February 3, 1945. Under the command of Lieutenant Commander F. C. Snow, US Navy, the ship served as an ammunition support vessel during the Korean War, operating in both the Atlantic and Pacific. It was also involved in supporting the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba. Throughout its service, the USS Diamond Head traveled extensively, transiting the Panama Canal to Pearl Harbor, Hong Kong, Japan, Manila in the Philippines, and San Diego.
