Colorful unique pillow made from original Peruvian blankets known as Frazadas from the Cusco area of the Andes. Frazadas, also commonly called mantas, are hand woven wool textile blankets, and are traditionally used to protect and warm against the frigid Highland temperatures. Frazadas are made through a centuries-old technique using a backstrap loop, which is essentially a weaving tool that the weaver affixes around their midsection. And because they’re individually made, they’re all unique, and colors, patterns, and styles can vary quite widely. Although each is individually, many families maintain the same color palette throughout generations. Patterns can also be repeated and have various meanings. The vibrant colors often seen in frazadas are due to the local ingredients available. Certain colors are more common in certain regions.
