Vintage Chinese rice box measurer. Handcrafted from wood with iron fasteners used to measure a “dou” of rice, an ancient Chinese measurement. Wonderful character and signs of age and use including burnished impressions of cash coins, a round shape with a square hole that symbolized the early belief that heaven was round and the earth is a square.
