Original Gelde helmet mask from Yoruba people of Nigeria. Beautifully carved detail of braided hair rows, scarification details and original pigments of red, white and black. These traditional story telling masks were worn on top of the head with raffia and cloth hanging around edge to cover the wearers face. Circa early 1900's.
