Antique Cizhou ware jar from the Yuan Dynasty circa 14th-16th century. Expressive traditional freehand painted designs and motifs in a rich chocolate brown on an antiqued white/cream background. Clear glazed finish on the pottery enhances this beautiful contrast. Cizhou ware was traditionally created for everyday use but is now praised highly by collectors. Great for display on its own or in groupings. Can be used as an elegant vase or displayed as is. Signs of age and use with small chips and worn marks which adds character. Opening at top on this piece is 4" diameter.
