Rare antique bronze vessel from the Ashanti people (of the Akan) of Ghana. Wonderfully detailed depicting a leopard with gazelle prey at the base. The vessel area is adorned with crocodiles and the lid is topped with a rat eating an ear of corn. Unusual, intricate, and rare piece with lots of character. Beautiful aged bronze patina. Larger size makes for a great statement and display piece. Circa late 1800's.
