Authentic vintage Hi-Plane Smooth Cut Tobacco tin featuring classic red advertising graphics and airplane logo. Early to mid-20th century lithographed metal tobacco can for pipe and cigarette tobacco.
This piece was discovered in the attic of a granddaughter and great-granddaughter’s home in Hessmer, Louisiana. According to the family, folded paid mercantile notes from the 1930s and 1940s were stored inside — sharecropper receipts documenting the yearly payoff of their account at a local mercantile in Echo, Louisiana.
While the original paperwork is no longer present, the tin remains as a tangible connection to that era — representing rural Louisiana farming life, agricultural labor, and generational resilience during the Great Depression and WWII years.
