Vintage Nellie Fox H&B Grand Slam Baseball Bat — Rare HOF Collectible
Step back into baseball's golden era with this authentic vintage Hillerich & Bradsby Co. "Special Grand Slam" store model bat bearing the name of Hall of Famer Nelson "Nellie" Fox. Fox was a legendary second baseman best known for his years with the Chicago White Sox (1947–1965), one of the most difficult hitters to strike out in MLB history, and inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
This bat is from the H&B No. 150 "It's A Louisville" series — a retail line unique to this model number and produced from the late 1940s through the early-to-mid 1960s, confirmed by the center brand oval style visible in the photos. Wood is northern white ash, the exclusive material used by Hillerich & Bradsby throughout this entire era — over 90% of all H&B bats produced before the modern era were made from northern white ash harvested from Pennsylvania and New York forests.
The center brand oval clearly reads: HILLERICH & BRADSBY CO. / 150S / H&B / MADE IN USA / LOUISVILLE, KY — with the distinctive "It's A Louisville" script alongside the oval, unique to the 150-series line. The barrel reads: SPECIAL / Grand Slam (in script) / NELSON FOX. The knob end is marked with what appears to be "2."
At 32 inches, this is a compact, nicely proportioned bat ideal for display. Wood shows natural aging consistent with the era — visible grain, surface patina, minor handling marks, and light soiling throughout storage decades. All stampings and lettering remain clearly legible. No cracks. Structurally sound.
Perfect for the baseball memorabilia collector, HOF display, man cave, sports bar, or vintage decor. Not recommended for game use due to age.
A hard-to-find piece of American baseball history tied to a true legend of the game.
