Rare Depression Era Southern Americana β€” lot of 5 handwritten sharecropper payment documents from Avoyelles Parish, Marksville, Louisiana. Dated 1930, 1934, 1935, 1936, and 1937. Payments recorded on backs of Louisiana Poll Book Registration Certificates plus one 1930 Avoyelles Bank and Trust Company promissory note with bank name scratched out. Real primary source material documenting sharecropper economics during the Great Depression and pre-WWII South. Each certificate displays the year in large print with handwritten payment figures. Condition: heavily aged with fold wear, edge tearing, staining, and minor insect damage consistent with 85-90 year old paper. All figures and text remain legible. Extraordinary find for genealogy researchers, Southern history collections, civil rights scholars, and Depression era Americana collectors.
